Santa Cruz Guitar Company has teamed up with Paul Jasper of Copper Pig Woodworking to offer these beautiful, one-of-a-kind, handmade Keepsake Boxes made from the offcuts of our guitars. It pains us to throw away even the smallest scrap of sustainably harvested flamed Koa, historic Tunnel 13 Redwood, coveted old-growth Brazilian Rosewood, 3,000-year-old Ancient Sitka Spruce… so now these natural treasures can be repurposed into wonderful artistic keepsakes to hold your guitar accessories, jewelry or other meaningful tokens that need safekeeping.
We have boxes of various woods available for sale immediately, but the boxes can also be built to order with your requested wood, and take about one month. If you are custom ordering a guitar with us, you can also request that a box be made out of your specific guitar’s offcuts. Please alert your dealer upon placing your guitar order if you’d like a box made for you.
Boxes are 3.5″L x 2″W x 2″H and come with a brass pull. Feel free to contact us at email@example.com with any questions. We will be offering more beautiful creations from Copper Pig Woodworking soon, so be on the lookout! If you have a custom idea in mind for a Copper Pig Woodworking creation utilizing our offcuts, we are open to it, so please drop us a line.
More about Paul Jasper:
We were lucky enough to cross paths with an incredibly talented woodworking artist & craftsman who shares these same values, Paul Jasper of Copper Pig Woodworking . As described recently by Yankee Magazine:
“Creativity may seem like an impossible thing to contain, but somehow Paul Jasper manages to put it in a box. Or on a board.Quite possibly it involves hammered brass or East Indian rosewood, fluttering like fish scales. The full-time scientist (PhD in immunology) began woodworking in 2005 and, after some mentorship by an 80-year-old neighbor, eventually moved on to some of Boston’s finest schools for furniture making.Certainly something was unleashed along the way, because much of what dances out of Jasper’s Boston atelier defies categorization. These wooden creations might be loosely described as tea boxes, sushi boards, serving boards, except… Lift a tea box lid and you’ll discover plaids and checkerboards, or rainbows crafted from upcycled skateboards streaking through a box of tiger oak. Sushi boards are lit with strips of metal; “Starry Night” incorporates a handmade ceramic moon into a base of bloodwood and cherry. Materials span wood from a century-old Hudson River shipwreck to live-edge maple with ebony and cocobolo.”
Santa Cruz Guitar Company is pleased to announce our new collaboration with this world-class artist, allowing Paul full flexibility to re-purpose some of our most prized wooden guitar offcuts into his beautiful creations. All pieces are hand-crafted by Paul, one-at-a-time, with the same attention to detail and commitment to excellence that you have come to know from SCGC guitars, using actual offcuts from our the instruments built in our shop.
We at SCGC are incredibly excited to be able to offer these collaborative pieces with Copper Pig Woodworking, allowing our customers more options to share in the SCGC tradition, while giving some of the most beautiful woods in the world a second life as art-inspired home decor.
