We love guitars built to celebrate family members! We’ll bet dollars to dovetails that a guitar can bring families closer together than any new gadget on the market. This custom Indian Rosewood/old growth Bear Claw Sitka Spruce OM model was ordered through Gryphon Strings by Frank, who surprised his grandkids, Ashlyn and Austin, with their family nicknames (A1 and A2) on the scrimshaw heel cap. Thanks for coming to us with this special order, Frank! #scgcjustshipped#santacruzguitars#customshopguitar#guitarsmakelifebetter... See MoreSee Less
I’m proud to be part of the Santa Cruz family. 2002 OM/PW!
Absolutely Beautiful!!!. LOVE Rosewood and especially when used in musical instruments. Can only imagine the lovely music this guitar will produce. Love seeing Ashlyn and Austin and how beautifully they have grown!!! 😁❤️❤️
Sweet geet! I have a SC OM much like this one but with a red spruce top. Great all around geet
Thank you to Richard and Carolyn, and to Matt at Gryphon, for making this whole process such a joy during a challenging time.
BTW, my loving grandson Austin, admiring my new guitar, asked “Who gets this when you pass?” He recognizes an heirloom when he sees one 🙂
I can’t wait to hear this beautiful instrument played...

Look at that bearclaw! The sunburst sets it off beautifully. Yowza!
I think the amazing part is that not only are your guitars stunningly beautiful works of art, they also sound amazing. I’m just happy I had one opportunity when I lived in SC to have played a few in your shop. I wish I’d been able to buy one. ❤️❤️
This guitar has the complexity, saccharine edge and complexity of a Stradivarius. (yes, I've played and owned one.) It is the only guitar I have ever played that made my ear drums resonate like pulsating speaker membranes. It was the most amazing phenomenon I have ever encountered in 54 years of guitar playing. Visually and sonically this guitar is absolute perfection. And the best thing about it is that it's new now, and time is going to just refine and accentuate these qualities. Thank you, Kim Sherman and Richard Hoover.
my big discovery this year was how nice the pairing of advanced x with adirondack and mahogany is, and how appropriate the normal x with rosewood can be in regards to the midrange variance of the woods. They still sound good when you mix them the other way, but the mids being more wet and a little further back sonically tastes so good with the dry forward nature of the midrange mahogany
Got one and it’s my favorite. Mine is a Figured Mahogany/Adirondack Vintage Artist Model with Adirondack bracing/hot hide glue, 1-3/4” nut width, vintage tinted top, and nickel Waverly tuners. It just makes me happy...
Already heard from the customer on this one from last week’s shipments:
“The OM Grand exceeded every expectation I had and I already knew it would be something spectacular. Upon opening the case. I was speechless. The guitar is BEAUTIFUL!!! But then.....I played it......and was totally awestruck! The OMG responded in exceptional fashion whether fingerpicked or flat picked with a voice that went from subtle and delicate to pronounced and authoritative, but never harsh, and always balanced and nuanced. I cannot recall ever experiencing all that from one instrument. I am overjoyed with my guitar and the decision to entrust my dream instrument to Santa Cruz. I could not be happier.”
This is my guitar and I sometimes just look at it in disbelief that it is actually mine. Carolyn and the Santa Cruz team are fantastic, as is Tobias Music where the dream began. Sorry....would love to say more, but I gotta play this beauty some more before bed.
Congratulations to Tom. I am amazed every day that I pick up my 2019 SCGC OM Grand (Cocobolo/Moon Spruce) beauty. Tom explained it perfectly. Not only aesthetically pleasing visually, but an incredibly articulate, balanced and multi-layered instrument that never ceases to please and amaze!!
I believe every word of this after picking up my first Santa Cruz guitar, a 2nd hand 1934 OM. Amazing instrument! Congrats!
I love my OOOM. Such a strong balanced sound from a smaller guitar.
That's really beautiful!
OMG. She’s a beaut!!
Gorgeous! How much ?
That guitar looks stunning!!
It is beautiful!!!
One of my favorite models!
I’m probably too old to be buying anymore guitars but if I do it’ll be a SC.
