Bracing – Adirondack with hot hide glue

Hot hide glue was the traditional adhesive of master violin builders. Known for its ability to dry harder and faster than man made adhesives, the hide glue pulls the bracing and the top of the guitar together, so there is no break in resonance when the sound vibrates from the top into the box of the instrument. We pair the hide glue with Adirondack bracing, thanks to Adirondack’s ability to transfer resonance so well. This is a very advanced and time intensive method of adhering braces, but it’s important to Santa Cruz to maintain the lutherie tradition, and offer players a chance to increase their resonance and ‘vintage-like’ tone from the start of the guitar’s life.
