I’m a believer in SCGC; it’s more than just a “small shop.” It’s an exemplar for businesses small and large. The company has resisted the urge to engage in an expansion that would betray its principles of quality in materials and workmanship and customer service.

When I am asked to recommend a guitar, I always recommend SCGC if the person has the budget for it. That’s not to deprecate any other maker, as I’ve owned splendid guitars by Martin, Bourgeois, and Collings. And without intending to diminish anything else in my small collection, I have come to believe that if I had to save just one guitar from an oncoming conflagration or were allowed to have just one guitar in the nursing home, it would be the SCGC OM. It’s simply the best sounding guitar I own, and its simple, classic appointments really appeal to me. Had I been smart enough to realize that a long time ago, I could have saved myself (and cost UPS) a lot of money. We live and learn.
