"Gathering of the Cruz's" Event - April 26th, 2008Thanks to the great efforts by Tom Walzem, member of the Unofficial Player's Forum, we had our First Annual "Gathering of the Cruz's" at Bocci's Cellar in Santa Cruz. The event was hosted by Tom and emceed by Richard Hoover. We were fortunate enough to have Bob Brozman perform an array of songs for the large crowd. After a tour of the shop by Richard, everyone got together and jammed. Thank you to all the dealers that were present: Steve Swan Guitars, Sylvan Music and Artisan Guitars (all the way from Tennessee!). Thank you to Steve Swan and Mike from Sylvan Music for providing guitars to view and play! Videos are also available on YouTube™ provided by Richard Newman. A big THANK YOU to everyone who was involved with this event. It was a huge success and we plan to make this an annual event. Look for the announcement for the 2009 Gathering!

Despite its small appearance, the H 13 Fret employs a body depth approaching that of a much larger dreadnought-sized guitar, producing extra volume and bass support to bolster its rich tone. Its comfortable size and complex tonal characteristics make it especially appealing to traditional players, soloists, and recording artists who demand maximum warmth and tonal versatility.
Features of the handcrafted H 13 Fret include a specially hand-tuned bracing system beneath its top-grade Sitka spruce top, a slotted headstock for classic style and enhanced string angle and sustain, and an ebony 1" x 6" pyramid rectangular bridge. The sides and back are select mahogany, and the mahogany neck features an ebony fingerboard with a total of 19 frets. An ebony headstock overlay and the wide ebony bridge with pyramid-style detailing add to the classic appearance.

For the past fifteen years, Ron Block has been the spiritual touchstone of Alison Krauss and Union Station, contributing sterling musicianship on banjo, guitar and vocals. Block has also recorded with Susan Ashton, Vince Gill, the Cox Family, Clint Black, Bill Frisell, Fernando Ortega, Billy Dean, Michael Johnson, Dolly Parton, and most recently Brad Paisley. In addition to his production of DoorWay, Block is currently producing a new recording for Rounder by young mandolin wizard, Sierra Hull.
