Mandocello

A modern interpretation of a vintage Gibson jumbo. Its heavily knifed bracing style is something unique to Santa Cruz that we developed exclusively to create the woody, dry, explosive tone that the old Gibsons were prized for.

Southerner Mandocello OM
Mandocello

We started with our Southerner round shoulder Dreadnought for its unbridled power and standard mandocello scale length. Then we designed a fast playable neck with a double-acting double stainless steel truss rod for stability.

details
OM The Orchestra Model is a small-body guitar with a powerful sound, favoring the bass to midrange. This is our most popular and versatile model.
details
OM / PW OOO
OM/PW The OM Pre-War is a solid wood OM sized guitar that incorporates all of Santa Cruz Guitar Company's extensive experience in making acoustic guitars, and puts it to work in an elegant but simple format.
details
OOO Similar in size and tone to the OM, the OOO features vintage styling, with a slotted peghead and the classic 12-fret body.
details
OO F
OO This small-body wonder has the same appointments as the OOO, and features an even balance and an exceptionally sweet tone.
details
F One of our most striking guitars, the F model features excellent projection and is balanced so that the player can place specific emphasis on bass, midrange, or treble.

FS H A/E
Finger Style Designed for demanding fingerstylists. The cedar top and voicing of the FS ensure a quick response with great volume in open tunings.
details
H A/E The H A/E features black gloss finish on a thin cutaway body and an exceptional pickup system for stage performance.
details
H PJ
H The H is a small-body guitar with very even balance and powerful volume. Its clarity and sweetness of tone make the H an ideal instrument for solo performance and recording.
details
H A/E The PJ is a parlor-size guitar that will surprise you with its presence. With a 12-fret body and a 24" scale, this is not a toy or travel guitar, yet will go places your other instruments cannot.
details
Janis Ian D
Archtop Designed especially for Janis Ian's powerful approach. Black finish, cutaway, and custom pickup in a parlor size.
details
H A/E Our dreadnought model enhances the midrange and treble of the traditional dreadnought without compromising the deep bass. Great presence, volume, and balance make it an outstanding choice for solo or ensemble performance.
details
D Pre-War Tony Rice
Dreadnought Pre-War Along the same lines as the OM Pre-war.s, the D Pre-War is a simpler version of our D model with the addition of advanced X braces for a bassier tone. Click on the model name to find out more about the last of the Pre-War series.
details
Tony Rice Contemporary bluegrass master Tony Rice's unique style demands more than a typical dreadnought can offer, so we designed this instrument that combines the bass presence of an old D-28 with more substantial midrange and treble.
details
Tony Rice Professional Vintage Artist
Tony Rice Professional This is the contemporary bluegrass dreadnought, built to Tony's personal specifications with German spruce and Brazilian rosewood. A shorter scale (25.25") provides a fast and supple action. The 4-9/16" soundhole combined with a hand-tuned top make this instrument, in Tony's words, "a guitar you can go to war with."
details
Vintage Artist Doc Watson's favorite Santa Cruz. All the power and presence of a pre-War D-18 with pattern-grade mahogany, amber-tinted top, and Herringbone appointments.
